Tilburg University Scholarship Programme

  1. Eligible candidates
    Tilburg University Scholarships (TUS) are specifically intended for excellent students from non-EEA countries, applying for a graduate program (MA, MSc, and LL.M) at Tilburg University. Students with an undergraduate degree from Tilburg University are not eligible for a TUS.


  2. Number of scholarships
    A maximum of 50 TUS can be awarded for each academic year until 2012-2013.


  3. Admission requirements
    1. To qualify for a TUS, candidates must fulfil the following admission requirements, on top of the regular requirements for being admitted to a Master's program:
      1. candidates must have been admitted to one of the graduate programs at Tilburg University
      2. candidates must have graduated with excellent results in their (under)graduate program
      3. candidates should provide at least two independent letters of reference
      4. candidates must be able to comply with the conditions to obtain a Dutch visa.
    2. In order to apply for the Tilburg University Scholarship, candidates must submit their application form by 15 April, 2012 latest.

  4. Amount of scholarship
    The TUS exists of two parts:
      partial tuition waiver; students pay tuitionof only € 2,598 at most; for most of the programs this entailes a fee reduction of € 8,046
    1. € 5,000 or € 10,000 to cover living expenses for one academic year. The faculties will decide whether a student will be awarded a single (€ 5,000) or a double (€ 10,000) scholarship within the Tilburg University Scholarship program.

  5. Duration of the scholarship
    1. The TUS are awarded for one academic year.
    2. Candidates being awarded a TUS for a one year master program will not be awarded this scholarship for a second year (including the tuition waiver), if they do not succeed in finishing their master's program within one year.
    3. Candidates applying for a TUS for one of the Research Master programs may receive a scholarship for their second year of the Research Master program. This on condition that candidates should obtain excellent results and succeed in receiving 30 ects in their first semester of the first year. Faculties are allowed to set additional conditions.

  6. Additional condition
    Candidates are strongly advised to apply for external scholarships like the Huygens Scholarship Program as well. If a student receives an external scholarship, fully covering tuition waiver and living expenses, the Tilburg University Scholarship (including tuition waiver and living expenses) will be cancelled. If an external scholarship would be less then the Tilburg University Scholarship, the Tilburg University Scholarship can be awarded partially; it will cover a tuition waiver as mentioned above and a supplement for living expenses of which the total amount for one year will not exceed €16,800 (which equals the amount for living expenses within the Huygens Scholarship Program).
