Make travel arrangements accordingly, so that you will allow adequate time for your visa to be processed prior to your departure.

Health Insurance

Important new information!

Starting in Fall 2014 Turkish authorities will ask for a proof of minimal health insurance coverage to issue student residence permits. The minimal coverage requirements are announced online. Most basic health insurance policies will have this coverage. You can buy such an insurance policy when in Turkey through various insurance companies. If you are travelling with your own health insurance from your home country or if you have an insurance policy that you bought outside of Turkey you should show written certification in Turkish that coverage is sufficient. This document is required for residence permit application. If you cannot obtain a residence permit during your exchange period, you will be charged a fine on your way back from Turkey and can be subject to deportation by the legal authorities.
