Apply for and renew top-level sports status

You are eligible for top-level sports status at the university when:

  1. Your sports federation has classified you as a top-level athlete (A, B, HP, IT, NT, Belofte)
  2. The university has classified you as a (regional) talented athlete.
  3. You have been selected by the board of T.S.R. Vidar to be part of the rowing selection

Top-level sports status application procedure

  • If you think you are eligible, fill in your registration form for Tilburg University.
  • Send an e-mail to the top-level sports coordinator stating your achievements of the past three years and your training regime for the past year and the coming year. You can send this to topsport@tilburguniversity.edu.
  • If this is the first time you are applying for a top-level sports certificate at Tilburg University, make an appointment with the top-level sports coordinator for an initial meeting. You can make an appointment via the Student Desk.
  • You will receive an official certificate from the Executive Board of the university when you are classified as a top-level athlete or talent.
  • The certificate is valid for one academic year and must be reapplied for annually before the start of the new academic year.
  • The study counselor will receive a copy of the certificate.
  • You are responsible for making an appointment with the top-level sports coordinator at the beginning of each academic year with regard to student supervision.

Rower at T.S.R. Vidar

The Executive Board believes it is important that the Tilburg Student Rowing Association can compete at a high level with the rowing associations of other universities. To support Vidar and to encourage optimum professionalism, a modified top-level sports status is available for the selection rowers (category 3) entitling them to make use of the study facilities.

First-year rowers

The competition rowers will be nominated by the board of Vidar, in consultation with the coach. These rowers only receive top-level sports status after they have reported to the top-level sports coordinator, and have obtained (in case of 1st year Bachelor students) at least 18 ECTS in their first semester. You can make an appointment via the Student Desk.

Senior student rowers

Senior student rowers can be nominated by the board from September onwards, in consultation with the coach. A senior student rower is only eligible for top-level sports status once he or she is a permanent member of the selection team of that academic year.

The Executive Board reserves the right to deviate from the above provisions on an individual basis. This may be in a positive sense, for example based on outstanding sports achievements, or in a negative sense, in the event of poor study results.

After reporting to the top-level sports coordinator, students who possess a top-level sports status will receive an official certificate from the director of the Student Services, on behalf of the Executive Board. This certificate is valid for an academic year.

Renewing top-level sports status

The top-level sports status is valid for one year. You must renew your status if you have previously been awarded top-level sports status. In that case you must contact the top-level sports coordinator via topsport@tilburguniversity.edu. Or schedule an appointment with the Top Sport Coordinator through the Student Desk.
