• TNT Express and partner Tilburg University win Franz Edelman Award 2012

  The collaborative, supply chain-wide optimization efforts of TNT Express, ORTEC and Tilburg University have been officially recognized by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS®). TNT Express has won the 2012 Franz Edelman Award for its successful application of Operations Research in supply chain optimization.

• Privacy & Identity Lab to improve online security

  Radboud University Nijmegen, TNO, Tilburg University and SIDN (the company behind the .nl top-level domain) are launching the Privacy & Identity Lab (PI.lab) on April 3rd. This jointly run center of expertise develops solutions to enhance online privacy and manage electronic identities. PI.lab is unique because of its integrated approach to the technical, legal and socio-economic aspects of privacy.

• Scrutinizing the colors in Van Gogh’s masterpieces

  The colors in many of Vincent van Gogh’s works have faded over the years. Digital reconstruction techniques are to be used to discover what the painter originally intended. The work will be carried out in a joint research project involving curators, restorers and the Universities of Tilburg and Delft. Eric Postma, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Tilburg School of Humanities, has been awarded a grant of six thousand euros by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research to carry out his research.
