ExpertiseMy research is predominantly focussed on the question how having (versus lacking) power affects how people think about themselves and others, and how they subsequently behave toward others. The idea that power intoxicates the individual often turns out to be true. People become less inhibited when they are powerful and they are less worried about what others think of them. But in many ways it is also not true. Powerful people also often behave in a very "sober" way.
