My research is about culture, motives and their relation to prosocial behaviour. Currently, I investigate antecedents of volunteering in different cultures by emphasizing implicit and explicit prosocial power motive. More specifically, I examine the role of culture for volunteering by focusing both on early childhood experiences (such as having siblings) that are proven to be crucial for implicit prosocial power motivation, and, on values/goals and norms that are related to explicit prosocial power motive.
