A.J.M. (Arnt) VerriestUniversitair docent Tilburg School of Economics and Management Department of Accountancy ExpertiseI study institutional characteristics such as legal enforcement, political economy and financial development. Specifically, I examine their role in explaining firm profitability and financial reporting practice and quality across different countries. Furthermore, I study mandatory IFRS adoption, corporate governance and disclosure behavior. Throughout my empirical analyses, I also focus on employing composite indicators to mitigate some econometric and conceptual issues that pop up when studying institutions. I was a doctoral student at the University of Leuven and a visiting scholar for nine months at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. PublicationsMost recent publications
