Expertise

Sjaak Korver has studied practical theology, supervision and training in communication techniques. For 18 years, he has been hospital chaplain. At this moment, he coordinates and supervises the practical training at the Tilburg School of Catholic Theology, Tilburg University. He is especially interested in the personality of ministers, conflicts in pastoral settings, and the organizational context of pastoral work. Since two years, he works on a PhD on religious/spiritual coping and lung cancer.

Projects

Sjaak Korver examines the specific aspects of pastoral supervision (in comparison to general supervision). He also examines how supervision and training of ministers (for example Clinical Pastoral Education) have to been formed in a late-modern context.

 

Teaching

Sjaak Korver supervises the practical training of the Faculty of Theology. He is also supervisor, coach and trainer Clinical Pastoral Education.

Registration as (senior) supervisor and lecturer in supervision theory and practice.

Member of the European network of pastoral supervisors.

Member of the Advisory Board of the Gyökössy Institute for Practical Theology and Pastoral Supervision in Hungary.

Reviewer for the journal 'Mental Health, Religion & Culture'.
