C.S. (Suleman) Shahid PDEng Assistant Professor
Tilburg School of Humanities Department of Communication and Information Sciences
ExpertiseMy general research interest is in the area of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). More specifically I am interested in affective computing (designing emotion-aware user interfaces/applications), social and cross-cultural psychology (understanding inter and intra cultural differences in human emotions with the specific focus on the societal role and impact of these emotions). I am also intrested in understanding the needs of people beloging to special age groups (e.g. Children & Elderly) and designing technologies for them. Currently In my doctoral thesis, I am working on:
- Investigating the cross-cultural aspects of human emotions - Developing/Tailoring different methods for emotion production and perception (e.g. using games as a method for emotion elicitation) - Improving the Human<->Computer interaction by understanding human emotions across cultures in a better way Key words PublicationsPrincipal publications- Shahid, S., Krahmer, E., Swerts, M.
