M.A.M. (Marola) Vaes

Tilburg Law School

Marola's area of work and interest is 'supranational' victimology and transitional justice. She is most interested in how survivors of large-scale atrocities experience suffering and grave injustice, and its implications for how we conceive of post-conflict justice processes. She has conducted empirical research in post-war Liberia, examining the needs and life experiences of survivors through a narrative lens. Presently, she works as a junior researcher on the NWO-VIDI commissioned project 'What's Law Got to Do with it?'. She assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of the empirical analysis of the impact of the international right to reparation on the experience of war and genocide survivors in Cambodia, Congo, Cyprus and Surinam.
