The primary focus of my research pertains to the study of peer relations during adolescence. I am interested in understanding how and when different types of negative (e.g., peer victimization) and positive (e.g., friendships) peer experiences contribute to adolescent development. To do so, I utilize short- and long-term longitudinal designs, in which I apply a variety of methodological and analytic approaches to assess and analyze peer relations both at the dyadic and social network level. My most recent work focuses on the interplay between peer relations and biological responses to stress, with the goal to identify the biological processes (e.g., inflammation) that may help to understand the effects of peer experiences on adolescent internalizing psychopathology and physical health.
