Opening Academic Year 2019/2020
The Academic year will be opened on September 2nd, 2019. The opening is a university tradition. Professors come in robes, there are speakers on science and education and we look forward to the new academic year.

Tilburg University Twitter dashboard continuously measures political mood in EU
Marketing Analytics students at Tilburg University have designed a Twitter dashboard that measures data on the European elections and visualizes them in real time. It shows, for example, that LGBT rights is a trending topic in Poland, while migration is commanding a great deal of attention in Italy and Bulgaria. After the elections, the students can use the data for graduation projects.
Tilburg University response to Van Rijn Committee advice
Today the advisory committee on higher education, the Van Rijn Committee, is presenting its recommendations on short-term and long-term funding of higher education in the Netherlands. The Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) has considered the committee report and has expressed its view in the press release below.

When Emile Aarts first became Rector Magnificus, the current Tilburg Educational Profile ‘Knowledge, Skills, and Character’ was adopted and implementation of the profile was initiated. A few years down the road, now seems a good moment to look back with the Rector and take stock. What characterizes the Tilburg Educational Profile? Where do we stand now? What, in this view, should be the next few steps? And what is his own definition of character?
