Two-factor authentication

Log on to VPN (GlobalProtect) via Multi-factor authentication

Published: 08th May 2023 Last updated: 11th May 2023

From May 11, 2023 on, logging on to VPN (GlobalProtect) is possible via Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) only. This extra step has been added to keep Tilburg University’s online computer environment as safe as possible.

Please keep in mind to verify the login in your Microsoft Authenticator app. You will probably be familiar with logging on in this way by now. However, please note that VPN (GlobalProtect) does not show a notification or pop-up indicating that you need to approve the login. Each time you log on to your VPN, you will have to use the Microsoft Authenticator app. After providing a valid username/password combination, an approval message will immediately appear in the Authenticator app.

In addition to the introduction of Multi-Factor Authentication, there will be an update in GlobalProtect. This will require you, as a user, to log in twice in a row. This will happen only the first time you try to log on after the update.
