Professor Jantine Schuit, member Executive Board and Vice Rector Magnificus
Jantine Schuit (1964) is member of the Executive Board and Vice Rector Magnificus of Tilburg University since November 2020.
Current academic position
Jantine Schuit is Professor of Health, Behavior and Society. Her research focuses on the effectiveness of behavioural interventions and policy measures in the field of health. An important motivation in her scientific work is to contribute to effective and efficient preventive interventions.
Current ancillary functions
Jantine Schuit is member/independent advisor of the Executive Board of the GGD West Brabant. She is also a member of the Editorial Board for the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity.
Former positions and studies
From September 2017 to November 2020, Jantine Schuit was Dean of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Tilburg University.
Prior to that, she worked at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) as head of the Centre for Nutrition, Prevention and Health Care
In addition, she was endowed professor of Health Promotion and Policy at VU University Amsterdam, where she supervised various PhD students and lectured master and bachelor students in the field of public health, prevention and health policy.
From 1990 to 1997, she worked as a researcher at Wageningen University, where she obtained her PhD on research into the effect of an exercise programme on risk factors for cardiovascular disease in the elderly.
She studied Health Promotion, and Household- and Consumer Studies at Wageningen University.
