Get into heated debates and draw constructive conclusions
Excellent science is grounded in debate. Exchanging knowledge, sharing perspectives, asking each other questions, and challenging one another leads to better and new knowledge. With a slogan like ours, Understanding Society, the debate with staff, students and society is of paramount importance. We don’t shy away from heated discussions. Together, we are prepared to draw constructive conclusions that help to advance society and science.
Join the debate
That is why the university is inviting students and staff to take part in meetings on socially relevant themes and to actively take part in the debates. Symposiums and meetings in which such debates are a vital part of the program all carry the label join the debate.
Continue developing yourself
Students are given the opportunity to enter into debates with various people from society at large, as well as scholars and scientists. In that way, they develop 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and social and cultural skills. By entering into debates and being prepared to opt for constructive conclusions, members of the scientific staff contribute to the development of the university and the advancement of society.
"To generate impact we need to engage: understanding society = engaging the university", Rector magnificus Emile Aarts
