BSc student Economics Max Warmerdam recently obtained the Chess Grandmaster title. As a 'Second' to Dutch Grandmaster Jorden van Foreest, he was able to immediately make his mark at the Tata Steel Chess tournament. Van Foreest won the chess tournament.

Max Warmerdam advised Jorden van Foreest as 'Second' on the various openings and he was Van Foreest's sparring partner to whom he could submit his ideas. It is the first time that a Dutch chess player wins the prestigious chess tournament since 1985.
