TiSEM researchers have consistently claimed high positions in the Dutch Economists Top 40 ranking for many years now. Although in 2017 Tilburg University as a whole had to yield the top rank to Erasmus University, it still holds an admirable second place. Additionally, TiSEM scholars can boast the most influential publications of 2017.

According to the QS World University Rankings that was published Wednesday, the Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM) is the best in the Netherlands and ranks 48th worldwide with its Economics and Econometrics programs. That is two places up from last year. This rise reflects the higher score in academic reputation among our economists.

Gijs van de Water, 24, recently got his Master’s degree in Information Management. The Information Management program prepares students for a career at the interface of information technology, business and management. Before Gijs started on the Master’s program in Information Management, he studied computer science at a university of applied sciences.

Stefan ten Eikelder: a double winner Operations Research student24th November 2017
Stefan ten Eikelder was already in the spotlight for his Master thesis at the 2017 Education Bazaar where he won TiU Best Master Thesis prize. But the recognition for his Master thesis work extends beyond Tilburg University. In November Stefan won the prestigious Philips Data Science in Healthcare prize awarded by Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen (Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities).
Elisabeth Kempf wins KVS medal for best PhD thesis in economics09th November 2017
Dr. Elisabeth Kempf has won the KVS medal for the best PhD thesis in economics in the period 2014-2017. The prize was awarded by the Royal Netherlands Economic Association (KVS) for her thesis <i>Essays in corporate finance and financial intermediation</i>, with which she earned her PhD from Tilburg University in June 2016. Her PhD supervisor was Professor Olivier Spalt. Earlier this year, she also won the J.C. Ruigrok Award 2017.

Professor Arie Kapteyn, former Dean of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management and founding father of the Center for Economic Research at Tilburg University, has won the 2017 Pierson Medal together with Professor Bernard van Praag of the University of Amsterdam.
