Ties de Kok - cum laude dissertation on information processing of narrative disclosures
On May 20, 2019, Ties de Kok obtained his PhD degree degree with the cum laude qualification for his dissertation on reporting and information processing (TiSEM, supervisors Philip Joos and Jan Bouwens).
He uses state-of-the-art computer science techniques to investigate information processing and effects in three settings: crowdfunding (Kickstarter), soft-information in bank lending decisions, and information retrieval in corporate financial disclosures by users with varying degrees of financial literacy. The thesis committee was impressed with the exceptionally high quality of the dissertation research and defense. He will start as an assistant professor in accounting at the University of Washington (Seattle, USA) in August.
