Tilburg University Junior nominates four research projects for Klokhuis Science Award
15th January 2024Tilburg University Junior has nominated four research projects for the Klokhuis Science Award this year. This award is presented every year for research that is interesting as well as relevant for children aged 9 to 12. The award aims to make a broad and young audience familiar with scientific research in the Netherlands.

Development of facial expressions in virtual human agents can help healthcare and education
10th January 2024Technology, such as computer graphics and machine learning, has helped to develop virtual agents that closely resemble humans in appearance and show increasingly human-like communicative behaviors. In her dissertation, Julija Vaitonyte did research on people’s perceptions of the appearance and behavior of virtual agents.

Publication: De Kluseconomie: voor uitbuiting, klik 'aanvaard'
12th December 2023On 17 November, EPO Uitgeverij published the book De kluseconomie: Voor uitbuiting, klik 'aanvaard' by Tim Christiaens, assistant professor of economic ethics at DFI. The book discusses the rise of platform work in the Netherlands and Belgium and potential policy responses for a future of work more respectful of labour rights.
