IMOBEX

Roaming mobile gangs in the EU

The IMOBEX project focuses on itinerant mobile gangs in the EU and more specifically on how to deal with members of such gangs who are victims of criminal exploitation.

The project IMOBEX (Improving enforcement at the intersection of mobile banditry and exploitation) is a two-year project starting in April 2021 and is funded by the Internal Security Fund Police of the European Union.

It will be implemented by a consortium of Tilburg University (lead partner); Vilnius University; Utrecht University and the Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC).

The project focuses on itinerant mobile gangs in the EU and more specifically on the question of how to deal with members of such gangs who are victims of criminal exploitation. Research is being done into how mobile gangs operate, which legal and practical bottlenecks there are, and investigators are being trained in international and integrated cooperation in an organized crime field lab.
