Lifelong Development

For several years now, the Dutch government has been focusing on the theme of Lifelong Development: it involves stimulating and fostering initiatives for people continue to continue to develop themselves. This includes a sustainable commitment to the labor market and strengthening the Dutch (knowledge) economy. Education is an important link in this policy on the theme of Lifelong Development.

Tilburg University, like other educational institutions in vocational and academic education, considers lifelong development (LLD) one of its core tasks.

Recently, Tilburg University established a special working organization to bundle existing initiatives and to stimulate and strengthen both the range of activities and the impact of LLD. These include the TIAS programs (School for Business and Society) and the postgraduate and permanent education programs of the various TiU Schools.

This range of programs is consistent with Tilburg University's motto (understanding society) and the university's educational profile. Education focuses on in-depth academic knowledge, training of professional skills and personal development (in short, knowledge, skill, and character).

TST also identifies LLD as a core task. Policies on LLD for staff are being developed. With Luce, TST targets both those interested in spirituality, religion, and theology and professionals, particularly in the fields of pastoral care and spiritual care.

As part of Tilburg University's LLD policy, Luce's range of activities will be further developed and broadened to new target groups.
