Regulations SALIS

Aim

The Student Advisory Council has been established by the Executive Board and advises the management of the university's service department Library and
IT Services concerning the university policy for students regarding the library and IT.

The Student Advisory Council normally consists out of 9 members at a maximum. Because of the Renovation of the Library SALIS is temporarily extended to 15 members:

  • A member of each party from the University council student section
  • A student of Economics and Management
  • A student of Tilburg Law School
  • A student of Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences
  • A student of Tilburg School of Humanities/Tilburg School of Catholic Theology

Chairman of the Student Advisory Council is the director of Library and IT Services. A staff member of the Library and IT Services office provides the secretarial activities.

Tasks

Giving advice, asked for and unasked for, on important general developments in the field of IT and scientific information supply, that affect the university students directly, including central IT and library facilities for students, innovative facilities, rules and users research. These topics are dealt with on strategic as well as tactic and operational level.

Recruitment and appointment

The concerning section nominates the member of each student section to the Executive Board.The remaining members of the Student Advisory Council are recruited at the beginning of the academic year via an open application procedure. Candidates may announce their interest in writing.

Selection is performed by an appointment committee consisting of:

  • a member of one of the student sections
  • an other member of the Student Advisory Council
  • the chairman of the Student Advisory Council

The members are appointed by the Executive Board.

Term

The members of the Student Advisory Council are appointed for a one-year period. Reappointment is possible after expiration of this term, with a maximum of another two terms. Reappointment is at the discretion of the appointment advisory committee.

Meetings

The Student Advisory Council meet al least three times a year: in Oktober, January and May. In relevant cases the members can also be reached through email.

Compensation

The members receive a compensation for attending meetings of € 50 per meeting.
