Research on strategic topics

Tilburg University wants to attract female top talent with a passion for teaching and research and give an incentive to themes in research and education at the various Schools. The Schools recruit talented women for positions to elaborate specific research and education topics that fit our strategic ambitions.

Appointment for a period of five years with the possibility of an open-ended contract

Female top talents will be appointed for a period of five years in combination with agreements on the preconditions for promotion to a higher position and an open-ended contract during or after this period.

Just like the other members of the academic staff, the successful candidate is expected to be committed to teaching, research, and the organization of School and Department. The type of contract will differ from one vacancy to another as the Schools have their own recruitments policies. The exact conditions and prospects are stated in the relevant profiles.

Start-up budget

Appointees will receive a start-up budget of € 10,000. The appointee can submit proposals on how to spend this budget in the research project, for instance, the costs of conducting a survey, purchasing databases, holding interviews, renting lab space, engaging assistance, e.g., in writing research proposals, or covering traveling expenses.

Tracks coaching program

Tilburg University supports researchers in developing their careers. The tracks program offers free coaching to all female assistant professors, associate professors, and full professors, starting with peer-to-peer coaching and a networking program. Subjects dealt with include attracting sponsors and presenting research.

Research support after pregnancy leave

The Research Support after Pregnancy Leave Scheme enables female assistant and associate professors to compensate for lost research time during pregnancy and maternity leave. The scheme offers exemption from teaching duties or extra research support options for four months, so that participants can fully concentrate on their research output and publications. Because of this policy, women with young children are expected to have the same chances for promotion in academia as their colleagues.
