Farinaz Aryanfar
23-year-old Farinaz Aryanfar took over from Ton Linden in 2008 as the second Tilburg University Campus Poet. Aryanfar studied economics at Tilburg University, but she is best known as a human rights activist.
Her interest in human rights has a clear cause: as an 11-year-old girl, she fled Iran, together with her mother and sister after her father had been arrested. During their trek from one Dutch refugee center to another, Farinaz began writing stories and poems. Her journey also led to her becoming the youngest member of the action group Women against Deportation. Farinaz continues to work for human rights, both in Iran and in other places.
