Introducing the Netherlands - Regulating Euthanasia *

Up till date, the Netherlands, with Belgium and Luxemburg, is one of the very few countries in the world that regulated euthanasia. Euthanasia is only permissible when the due criteria of the Dutch law on euthanasia are met. The practice of euthanasia

What are in the Netherlands the rules applicable to the practice of euthanasia (i.e., the 'intentional life-terminating action by someone other than the person concerned, at the request of the latter') and what have been the reasons for regulating this? In this lecture, Professor of Law Maurice Adams, will deal with these and related questions.

Adams is an expert on the subject since in the nineties he functioned in an advisory capacity on this topic for both Belgian and UK parliament, and in recent years was one of the chairs in the Netherlands of an assessment committee on the practice of euthanasia.
