Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme

Published: 08th February 2021 Last updated: 31st August 2022

At Tilburg University, many of our students have the possibility to study abroad. This can be in Europe, or somewhere else in the World. We can also assist you in gaining an (additional) international experience when you are preparing to launch a business with scale-up potential.

The Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme provides unique opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs to learn on the job from successful European scale-up entrepreneurs. The EU is keen to equip ambitious entrepreneurial talents with a pan-European mindset that will help them to expand beyond the borders of their home countries.

The programme was originally created for those that already have a start-up, but now it is also open to those that are preparing to formally start-up a business. You will be immersed in a new context and learn from an entrepreneur how to be successful. As a participant in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme, you will be embedded with a scale-up and acquire knowledge, develop skills and enhance your own business proposition. The host entrepreneur will be your mentor. Participants in the programme receive a stipend from the European Commission to (partially) cover the costs of their stay.

As an aspiring entrepreneur, you will gain a wealth of knowledge (and contacts!) During a short stay with a scale-up entrepreneur in any of the participating countries. Boost the prospects of your own start-up by learning from a European role model.

Also as a host entrepreneur, you can benefit from participating in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme as the entrepreneurial talent that you will mentor will surely provide you with fresh ideas and a different perspective. It is also gratifying to help a new generation of European entrepreneurs prepare for success. Most host entrepreneurs enjoyed the experience so much that they decide to host other new entrepreneurs afterward.

What can we do for you?

IQONIC supports students and young graduates that aim to launch an ambitious start-up that can develop into a scale-up with European exposure. That is why we assist and encourage current students and alumni to try to obtain a seat in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme. Others who joined the programme before are enthusiastic and provide you with an insider’s perspective on how it can boost your own venture.

Financial support for participants

The financial support provided by the EU to participants in the programme contributes to your travel and subsistence costs during the visit. The financial support to cover your subsistence cost is calculated monthly and reflects the overall living costs of the country where you will stay.

Intrigued?

Participating in the Erasmus for Entrepreneurs programme is not for everyone. It is competitive and there are usually more applicants than positions. If you want to learn more about the programme, about applying, or if you have other questions, then get in touch with Karen!
