Tennis playing levels

Which level of play suits me?

Every player affiliated with the KNLTB has his/her own level of play. This starts at 9 for beginners and goes up to 1 for professionals. Below is an explanation of the different levels that the Sports Center offers.

Tennis beginners

You have never played tennis.

Level 9

This player is new to tennis. The player has very little experience playing. You can play a ball back and forth at least 10 times with backhand and forehand.

Level 8

This player has more experience on the court. The player can hit the ball with some firmness in a large box on the court. You are a beginning league and tournament player.

Level 7

The player begins to better assess different ball trajectories.  Playing the ball with firmness goes reasonably well, the same goes for controlling the ball. You are a semi-experienced league and tournament player.

Level 6

This player has become much more consistent with his strokes. Directing the ball has become easy for this player. Also, this player often knows how to give rotation to the ball and the variation in strokes has increased. You are able to play with a game plan.

Level 5

This player has a good all-around game. This player can execute all strokes with much less doubt and with more confidence. Directing the ball is now much easier. This player can realize his/her intention.

Level 4

This player now knows how to effectively apply momentum and rotation to faster approaching balls. Footwork is much improved, and strokes can now be executed with less or more depth. Tactics can be adjusted depending on the opponent.

Level 3

This player has significantly better anticipation and often scores with excellent strokes.  Strength and firmness are now structural parts of the arsenal. This player can devise a number of different strategies when things are going well and apply reliable strokes when under pressure.
