Pilates is a training method for body and mind. It was developed by Joseph Pilates who had been a 'delicate' youth, frequently suffering from poor health in childhood. He therefore experimented with various forms of sport and yoga in an attempt to strengthen his body.
Mindfulness is the ability to focus on the here and now. You become less distracted by external stimuli, feelings and emotions within, and learn to really focus on the present moment.
Hatha yoga is based on a system of carefully devised positions, known as the asanas. As you assume each of the asanas, you will feel tension and relaxation in various parts of your body. The objective is to find exactly the right balance.
Mind in movement
During Mind in movement classes, learn what movement does for your mood and how it can help you relax. Mind in movement in a combination of dance and mindfulness.
There is a connection between breathing and various psychological and physical complaints. This is reflected in our breathing rhythm. During the lessons breathing techniques we work on releasing the breath.
