Bill Laurance
It's not often that a new jazz collective sells out venues all over the world and wins Grammy after Grammy. Snarky Puppy is the collective to receive this honor. Single-handedly they renewed audiences for jazz of all ages, with mostly instrumental music.
Keyboardist, composer and arranger Bill Laurance (see picture above) is one of the driving forces behind Snarky Puppy. He also has an impressive career as a composer and soloist and is artist in residence at Morley College London. The bond between the Metropole Orkest and Bill is close. He cannot wait to tackle compositions by Snarky Puppy and himself with Jong Metropole (conducted by Simon Dobson).
Orchestra
Jong Metropole ("Young Metropole") is a unique collaboration between the National Youth Orchestras of the Netherlands, the National Jazz Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands and the Metropole Orchestra.
Jong Metropole consists of the best musicians from the Dutch conservatoires. Young talented music students from both the classical and jazz worlds meet in this unique orchestra that brings both worlds together.

Program
The program features works from Bill Laurance's entire catalogue, including a world premiere of a new work rearranged especially for this concert. Much of the material is being realized live for the first time as originally intended; with a 50-piece symphony orchestra.
Warm-Up interview
Before the concert, Bill Laurance will be interviewed by music students from Jong Metropole. Bill will mainly refer to his experiences with Snarky Puppy, the collective with as many as 25 members in regular rotation. They will talk about success factors and challenges of cooperation. But also, how do you build your own career from such a large and well-known collective?
