Facilities for students with a visual disability

Various facilities are available for students with impairments.

Facilities for student in the library

Facilities are available in the library for students with a disability. These are room L101 and L102. These rooms can be reserved at the Library Desk. Instructions of use about the facilities in these rooms can also be obtained at the Library Desk.

Braille Reading Rule

For students with visual impairments, a Braille Reading Rule (Basic Braille 40) is available in the library for all common study activities. Please make an appointment via the Library Desk for use and an explanation of how the device works.

Braille Printer

A Braille printer is available in the library for students with visual impairments. Make an appointment at the central desk in the Library for use and an explanation of how the device works.

Imaging magnifier with voice support

An on-screen magnifier with voice assistance (Magnilink Vision TTS, 23) is available in the library. The reading camera has a flicker-free image with high contrast and bright colors. Make an appointment via the Library Desk in the library for use and an explanation of how the device works.

Sit-stand tables

In L101 and L102 are sit-stand tables with a wide adjustment range for small students, or students who can only work standing.

Ergonomic keyboard with track-ball

This is a versatile keyboard, accessible to all, including students with motor imbalances. Make an appointment at the central desk in the Library to use this workspace.

Enlarging texts

Almost all copiers at Tilburg University can enlarge texts.  After making an appointment with the dean of students, the Studio (first floor Library ) can also take care of this work.

The library also has a PC available with magnification software and a screen reader (USA Magnifier & Screenreader) installed. Please make an appointment with the Library Desk to use this PC.
