Data Science in Society

In this lecture series, Jourik Ciesielski (founder of C-Jay International) will discuss the rise of generative AI and large language models and explore the extent to which it has influenced the landscape of the localization industry after ChatGPT was introduced with a bang in November 2022. In this presentation he will present both old and new use cases, and predict how the advent of AI will (or will not) further reshape the (machine) translation profession.

Jourik Ciesielski

Jourik Ciesielski holds a Master in Translation as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Specialized Translation from KU Leuven, Faculty of Arts, Campus Sint-Andries in Antwerp (Belgium). In 2013 he started as an intern at Yamagata Europe in Ghent (Belgium) as part of his studies and then stayed with the company as full-time Localization QA Operator. His strong interest in language technology made him move to the position of Chief Technology Officer. In 2020 he founded his own company, C-Jay International, focusing on technology consulting, engineering, and market research.
