Migrant and Refugee Empowerment through Entrepreneurship

Date: Time: 09:30 Location: Zoom Session

We invite you to join us for a panel discussion with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) - Netherlands – United Nations Migration Agency and Tilburg University students.

The 1st “Empowerment through Entrepreneurship (E&E)” round table discussion will be held on 19th January 2021, (9:30 – 12:00).  Students from various schools of Tilburg University will present their understanding on Refugee and Migrant conditions in The Netherlands from various lenses (Legal, Economic, Social, and Networks etc.).

This Impact Lab, as a part of Outreaching Honors Program is conducted by Dr. Chintan Kella (CK) , Department of Management, TISEM.

The panel aims to draw attention to the role of Entrepreneurship in the empowerment of the disempowered actors like refugees. Starting from the premises that Empowerment is required to achieve full economic and social citizenship, we focus on role of Entrepreneurship as an important, but understudied aspect of the refugee- host country integration. By engaging in this project, students can expect to benefit from gaining in-depth insights from various institutes and initiatives in The Netherlands and Socio economic situation of Refugees.

Our 2nd discussion round (To be announced later) will focus on assumption that Entrepreneurship helps to break various barriers and fulfill dimensions of empowering process, in a holistic manner. In doing so, students should be able to capture how by engaging in entrepreneurship, the participants feel empowered.
