Current financing structures intensify competition among universities.
Transparency requirements and quality control systems are insufficient and result in an overwhelmed faculty. Students miss a moral compass and get lost in the meritocratic maze. Prof. Alkeline van Lenning, professor of multidisciplinary studies; in particular Liberal Arts and Sciences, explains in her inaugural lecture how University College Tilburg attempts to counter these large-scale effects and prepare students not just for a successful career, but for committed citizenship.
