Lecture by Cass Sunstein: “How change happens”
Netspar en Tilburg School of Economics and Management organize a lecture by Cass Sunstein on Monday June 3. The lecture is hosted by De Nederlandsche Bank.
Cass Sunstein is University Professor at Harvard and the Founder and Director of the Program of Behavioral Economics and Public Policy at Harvard Law School. From 2009 to 2012, he was administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. He is the most cited American law scholar and wrote, in addition to many academic articles, around fifty books, including (jointly with Richard Thaler) Nudge, Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth and Happiness. He has testified before U.S. congressional committees and has been involved in law-reform activities in various countries.
Cass Sunstein will talk about the subject of his latest book How Change Happens. Using, inter alia, behavioral economics and social psychology, he will cast a new light on the crucial role of social norms in influencing attitudes and behavior and on how they may lose their force, discussing libertarian paternalism as a way to promote individual and social welfare.
