Debatable: Facebook *

The recent Cambridge Analytica scandal has raised concerns about social media. Some are even calling for a complete shutdown of Facebook. But is it really that easy? There are clear benefits for all Facebook users that cannot be denied and are we still able to continue with our everyday life without our daily doses of Facebook? Debatable: Facebook

Life after Facebook?

Flashback 10 years ago. Even though Facebook has existed for four years now, relatively few people know that a social media network called "Facebook" exist and even fewer people actually use it.

Back to today. Facebook has fundamentally changed the way how, with whom and what we actually communicate. Facebook has enabled us to connect with our family and friends worldwide and to be able to instantly get in contact with them. We are able to follow companies, celebrities and products we are interested in and "like and follow" them. It is easier then ever to share the latest meal I ate or the latest location I have visited and friends can immediately see and respond to that. Companies are able to purposefully advertise their product to their target audience and are able to get into contact with the consumer directly. In short everything and everyone is interconnected.

But is this actually a good thing? The recent Cambridge Analytica scandal has raised concerns about this interconnectivity and some are even calling for a complete shutdown of Facebook. But is it really that easy? There are clear benefits for all Facebook users that cannot be denied and are we still able to continue with our everyday life without our daily doses of Facebook? Together with you we want to discuss if a life without Facebook is possible and also talk about potential alternatives.

We hope to see you there!
