Symposium on private-sector involvement in armed conflicts and acces to justice for human rights and environmental harm the case of Colombia

The symposium brings together experts on transitional justice, peacebuilding, development, and business, human rights, and the environment to discuss the involvement of business actors in human rights and environmental harm in situations of armed conflict and the barriers victims encounter in seeking effective redress.

Taking Colombia as a case study, it examines the role of business actors in armed conflict and peacebuilding, as well as different legal mechanisms to address corporate human rights and environmental harm. The symposium is organized at the Department of Public Law and Governance of Tilburg Law School on occasion of the defence of Philipp Wesche’s doctoral dissertation entitled ‘Business-related human rights violations and access to justice in Colombia’.
