On the Day of Commemoration of the Dead, May 4th, Vice-Chairman of the Executive Board, Paulina Snijders, laid flowers at the memorial in memory of 22 Tilburg students who died during World War II. They died after bombardments, because of their resistance activities, in concentration camps or as a result of forced labour and illness. The monument consists of a memorial wall with photos and candles and is located on campus.

Snijders: 'This year we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the liberation. This also includes commemorating the fallen: for our university this means in particular those students who died in the resistance, or because they became victims of the war. Today we honour them and remember war and atrocities that must never happen again.'

The monument also includes a website launched two years ago by the Tilburg Cobbenhagen Center (TCC) in collaboration with the Tilburg Regional Archives, with the support of student associations T.S.C. St. Olof, T.S.R. Vidar and the Art and Heritage Committee.
