High praise from review committee for four TSB research groups
At the end of 2019, an external review committee headed by Professor Rafael Wittek positively assessed the research programs of Human Resource Studies, Organization Studies, Sociology, and Tranzo over the period between 2013 and 2018. The committee was very impressed by the achievements and expressed this in the individual assessments of the four groups. Research quality was assessed as excellent three times and as very good once, relevance to society was twice assessed as excellent and as very good, and viability was considered very good for all groups.
Human Resource Studies received positive reactions on the high quality of its academic publications and the strength of the People Management Center. Organization Studies was also complimented on the high quality of its publications and on actively integrating the needs of external stakeholders in its research agenda. Sociology was commended for its approach to fundamental research and its focus on macro-level social processes enabling collaboration with other research groups within TSB. Tranzo’s strong social impact was confirmed and its academic quality was also highly praised.
The committee has also expressed its appreciation of the Herbert Simon Research Institute (HSRI) established in 2018. One of HSRI’s objectives is strengthening the collaboration among the research groups. ‘The committee appreciates that TSB provides an environment that encourages interdisciplinary research efforts but at the same time preserves and strengthens the disciplinary basis. This strong disciplinary grounding is a prerequisite for high quality inter- and transdisciplinary research’.
