Dr. Linnet Taylor of Tilburg Law School is one of ten new members The Young Academy of the KNAW (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences). The Young Academy is a group of talented young scholars working in a variety of disciplines who share a broad interest in research, science policy and science communication. Membership is for a five-year period. The new members will be inducted on 23 March 2020.

Dr. Linnet Taylor (TILT, Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology and Society) is working on the ERC Global Data Justice project. She strives for a just use of data, data science, and artificial intelligence. She believes that in research and beyond minorities and women should be taken more fully into account; existing inequalities could then be reduced. Moreover, there is a need to reflect more carefully on corporate funding and co-funding of research. Taylor believes it is important that research money supports fundamental and critical research and that good rules are in place on the types of academic research that are eligible for corporate funding. These are causes to which Linnet Taylor aims to commit at The Young Academy.
