The Tilburg University Executive Board has appointed Professor Antoinette de Bont as the new Dean of Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (TSB) effective August 1st. De Bont is currently working as Professor of The Sociology of Innovations in Healthcare at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management in Rotterdam. She succeeds Professor Jantine Schuit, who became Vice-Rector Magnificus in 2020.

The Executive Board is very pleased with this appointment: ‘Professor Antoinette de Bont is a capable administrator with broad experience. She has a very good understanding of developments within the social sciences and, more specifically, developments surrounding AI and data science. She has connective strengths as a leader, both substantively and in relations. We are convinced that Antoinette will make a significant contribution to the further development of the strategy pursued by the School and the university.’

Antoinette De Bont (1968) studied Health Sciences at Maastricht University. She earned a PhD there in 2000 with a thesis on the role of data in policy. Her research focuses on the impact of data as well as big data on care professionals and care organizations.

Together with international partners, Antoinette de Bont has set up the European Master in Health Economics and Management, an international joint degree program. In 2017, she was appointed at Erasmus University Rotterdam as Professor of Innovations in Care. She acted as Vice-Dean for Research and subsequently two years as Vice-Dean for Education.

Professor De Bont: ‘I am thrilled to make my home at this strong and vibrant School. TSB has a clear vision and a unique position to put the social sciences’ contribution to sustainable and inclusive social transitions on the agenda and to realize them. I look forward to contributing to this.’
