Tilburg University student speaks at closing session of major UN conference

Olaf Steenbergen, Information Management student at Tilburg University, addressed the humanitarian community during the closing (online) session of the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks 2021. At this conference, organized by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), hundreds of organizations and several thousand people from the international community come together to discuss a variety of topics related to international relief and disaster response.

On behalf of the 200 students who attended the conference, he shared "the next generation's view" on key challenges.

Lecturer and researcher Kenny Meesters,  specialized in crisis and disaster information management, attended the conference with seven Information Management students. Two years ago, he started the University Surge Support Group Network (USSG), with the aim of giving the 'new generation' a place at this conference. The network operates under the banner of both Tilburg University and the United Nations University in Bonn.
