New values research in the Netherlands: More tolerance, more pride, and different kinds of religiosity

Symposium ‘Wat W.I.L. jij?’ on values, identity, and life orientation

The Dutch have become more tolerant with regard to sexual-ethical aspects of life, are more proud of their Dutch citizenship, have more faith in people and believe less in God. Specific research among religious youngsters in the Netherlands shows that the relevance of church attendance, prayer, and images of God is declining, but not among reformational and Muslim students.

Young people who do not consider themselves religious turn out to be no less social than religious youngsters.

These and other research results on values in the Netherlands and among youngsters in particular are central to the symposium ‘Wat W.I.L. jij?’ on values,  identity, and life orientation, that will take place at Tilburg University on Thursday, June 20, 2019.
