Hugo Reumkens appointed Chair of the Tilburg University Board of Governors

Persbericht 28 december 2017 - Lawyer Hugo Reumkens (Tilburg, 1969) has been appointed Chairperson of the Tilburg University Board of Governors as of 1 January 2018. Reumkens is a partner at the renowned Amsterdam law firm Van Doorne, which advises leading Dutch and international companies, financial service providers, the semi-public sector and governmental institutions. The firm also fulfills the role of Government attorney.

Reumkens is specialized in company law, with a particular focus on corporate governance, which he also teaches at Nyenrode, Tias and other universities. He was two terms chairman of the board of Van Doorne, worked in the field of self-assessments of supervisory boards and as advisor to the Tabaksblat committee.

Outgoing chairperson Jan Hommen: “The Board of Governors are enthusiastic about the appointment of Hugo Reumkens, who has a large network in Brabant and in the Randstad. He has a wealth of management and board experience, and extensive knowledge of strategy, finance, ICT and representative bodies, all of which are extremely relevant for the world of higher education. I have every confidence in Hugo as I hand over the relevant tasks.”

The other members of the Tilburg University Board of Governors are Jos van Lange, Willibrord van Beek, Prof. Wil van der Aalst and Prof. Elies van Sliedregt.

Hugo Reumkens: “As alumnus it is great privilege for me to take on the role of Chair of the Board of Governors. Tilburg University is growing and making great headway in both education and science, which is translated for instance in new Strategic Plan 208-2021. As Chair of the Board, I am looking forward to following the implementation of the plan closely and seeing how the university develops.”
