Prof. Corien Prins to become Chairman of Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR)

PRESS RELEASE 16 December 2016 - As from April 1st, 2017 Prof. Corien Prins of Tilburg University will take office as Chairman of the Scientific Council for Government Policy of the Netherlands (WRR). She will succeed Prof. J.A. (André) Knottnerus, whose term in office will end. It has been announced today that the Dutch Council of Ministers welcome the intention of the Prime Minister to nominate Prof. Corien Prins to chair the WRR.

The WRR is an independent advisory board that advises the government on issues of great importance for society. The reports of the WRR are not tied to one policy sector. Rather, its reports go beyond individual sectors; they are concerned with the direction of government policy for the longer term. 

Prof. Corien Prins will remain Dean of Tilburg Law School until April 1st, 2017.

Corien Prins (b. 1961) is Dean of Tilburg Law School (TLS) at Tilburg University as well as Professor of Law and Informatization. From 2008 to 2013 she was a council member of the WRR. Until 2008 she chaired the Tilburg Institute of Law, Technology, and Society (TILT) at Tilburg University. Corien Prins studied law at Leiden University and obtained her doctorate in 1991 at the same university. Since 2009 she has been a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), member of the Supervisory Board of the Erasmus University Rotterdam and supervisor of 21 PhD students.
