Sigrid Suetens appointed as Professor of Behavioral Economics

Behavioral Economics studies, among other things, the social interaction among people. Suetens’ research is based on the principle that good informal relations among the individuals in a group (e.g., trust relationships among citizens) contribute to the smooth functioning of the group (e.g., society). She is particularly interested in identifying factors that affect these good relations and this smooth functioning. As part of an ECR grant that she received in 2016, she is conducting research into discrimination in ethnically diverse societies.

 Sigrid Suetens works at TiSEM’s Department of Economics. She earned a PhD from the University of Antwerp in 2005. She has worked at Tilburg University since 2007, first as a postdoc researcher and since 2009 as an assistant professor. Sigrid Suetens has a great track record in the area of teaching as well as research within TiSEM. In addition to the 2016 ERC grant, she has received an NWO Veni grant (2009) and a Vidi grant (2013). She has published in various top journals.
