Press release, May 21st 2015
In 2015, student satisfaction at Tilburg University has increased for almost all aspects of the programs, compared to 2014. This is shown by the figures from the annual National Student Survey (NSE) over 2014-2015, published on Thursday. Satisfaction on the programs in general (on a scale of 1 to 5) increased from 4.00 in 2014 to 4.09 in 2015. This means that Tilburg University scores higher than the national average (4.04) and that, nationally, Tilburg University has risen among the universities from 6th position in 2014 to a shared third position in 2015.

The National Student Survey (NSE) is a large-scale, nationwide survey: all students at research universities and universities of applied sciences are invited every year to give their opinion on the degree program they are pursuing. A total of 4,283 Tilburg University students participated in the NSE 2015 (i.e., a response of 36%). In the final report, the statements in the survey have been combined into 17 main themes.

As regards the theme of accommodation, Tilburg University scores the highest average of all universities. For the themes academic skills acquired, assessment and grading, information provision, placement experience, and study facilities, Tilburg University scores among the national top 3. We also score higher than the national average on content, teachers, program schedule, study load, quality care, and study environment.

The students are less satisfied about group size, career preparation, and placement and program. However, student satisfaction on these aspects has clearly increased since 2013.

The NSE results are used by Tilburg University every year to optimize its service provision to students and to analyse and improve the quality of individual programs.
