Press release, September 30th 2015
Tilburg University has achieved a good result in the 2015 Times Higher Education Rankings (THE). The final score is between 201st and 250th position (which is not further specified). This means a rise relative to 2014 (276th-300th position). The THE World University Rankings is one of the most prestigious international university rankings. The ranking is based on performance indicators in five categories: teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook.

Relative to 2014, Tilburg University scores higher in each of these areas. For Teaching, the score increased from 33 to 34.1 and in the category of Research from 45.1 to 47.1. The increase was greatest in the area of Citations: from 34.9 to 51.5. Because our research income earned from industry has increased, so has the score for Industry income (from 55.1 to 57.4), while the score for International outlook rose from 62.2 to 71.6.

Phil Baty, editor of the THE World University Rankings: “The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, now in their 12th year, apply rigorous standards, using tough global benchmarks across all of a global research university’s key missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The results are trusted by students and their families, academics, university leaders and governments. For Tilburg University to make 201-250 in the world is an outstanding achievement to be celebrated.”

President of the Executive Board Koen Becking: "Again excellent scores in the rankings; the merit of our researchers is acknowledged internationally as well as nationally - as borne out by the Elsevier scores. A very good achievement for a specialist university, and the result of our constantly striving to improve and innovate our work."
