Inge Bongers appointed as Professor of Sustainable Innovation in Mental Healthcare
24th March 2023Tilburg University’s Executive Board has appointed Inge Bongers as Professor of Sustainable Innovation in Mental Healthcare at the Department of Tranzo of the Tilburg School for Social and Behavioral Sciences, effective April 1, 2023. Inge Bongers’s research remit centers around further studying sustainable innovations that contribute to maintaining and improving mental health.

Erik-Jan Broers one of the finalists in national Teacher of the Year 2023 election
23rd March 2023Erik-Jan Broers is a finalist of the national Teacher of the Year 2023 election. On Monday 24 April, he will be one of the four finalists to deliver a mini-lecture in the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht. A five-member jury will use this lecture to decide whether he walks away with the national title.

23rd March 2023From March 23 to April 23, De Reit, the relatively young community in which Tilburg University is located, will be home to the Stichting Straat festival, and our campus will host a variety of activities, including tours, concerts, and lectures. Grant for digital self-management platform for people with severe mental illness

The goal is to give this vulnerable group more control over their own mental health and thus reduce the pressure on mental health care.

Tilburg University contributes to financial literacy among young people
22nd March 2023On March 20, the first day of Global Money Week, Tilburg University and Nibud (National Institute for Family Finance Information) provided a guest lecture and a knowledge session on the topic of ‘Young people & money’ at CURIO, a school for secondary vocational education (MBO). The reason is the EU-funded ANGLE project ‘A Network Game for Lifecycle Education’. This project is aimed to enhance the financial literacy among young people, enabling them to make sound financial decisions.

Yael Diamant appointed as Professor of Financial Networks and European Property Law
20th March 2023Tilburg University has appointed Yael Diamant as Professor of Financial Networks and European Property Law at Tilburg Law School, effective April 1, 2023. Her research will focus primarily on the interface of property law and financial regulatory law.

Tilburg University has moved into new MindLabs building
17th March 2023At the end of January, the new MindLabs building was completed and it is now being fitted out. In the week of March 27, Tilburg University took possession of the building, situated in the heart of hipster hotspot Spoorzone. The four shared labs on the ground floor will be managed by the university. On the first floor, office space and three lecture halls will be available to Tilburg University.

Children's drawings can help with early detection of giftedness

Children's drawings, however, can play a role in early detection of their needs and talents, argues psychologist Sven Mathijssen in his dissertation titled "Back to the drawing board: Potential indicators of giftedness in human figure drawings," which he defends on March 22, 2023 2:00 pm.

13th March 2023Last weekend, climate activists again blocked the A12 highway near The Hague to draw attention to the climate crisis. The farmers’ movement does not shy away from harsh, disruptive actions either. To what extent do these disruptive actions contribute to protest groups’ objectives? And what is the social impact as regards political choices and voting behavior? Sociologist Ruud Wouters is conducting research into the impact of protest on political choices and the elections. “Protest can force political parties to take a clear stand.”
