Netspar research: the new Dutch pension system delivers what it promises
18th January 2022The Tilburg University researchers examined the income effects at both the time of transition to this new scheme and in the longer run. The conclusion is that the new pension system does what it promises. The chance of higher pensions is much greater than the risk of a lower pension.

25th anniversary Centerdata: Interview with Arie Kapteyn and Marcel Das
13th January 2022Centerdata was launched twenty-five years ago. Since 1997, this independent non-profit research institute, established on the Tilburg University campus, has provided input for answers to research questions in the field of the Humanities and Social Sciences. There is a strong connection between Centerdata and Tilburg University. Time for an interview with founder Arie Kapteyn and curent director Marcel Das on Centerdata then and now.

European ERC Starting Grant for Phillip Paiement
10th January 2022The EU's European Research Council has awarded four ERC Starting Grants of 1.5 million euros for promising research talent to researchers at Tilburg University. Phillip Paiement (dept. Global Law and Governance) receives the grant for an explanatory model for better transnational legal collaboration in climate change challenges.

1.6 million for interdisciplinary project ‘Conflict in Transformations’
10th January 2022Urban Europe has awarded a grant of 1.2 million euros for the interdisciplinary research proposal ‘Conflict in Transformations’, which will be topped up by the research consortium partners with 0.4 million euros. The project studies whether and how political and legal institutions suppress or actively use conflict for transformation towards more sustainable cities.

Deepfakes may in time disrupt society
05th January 2022Deepfakes potentially have a very large impact on society, social structures and the rule of law. This is evident from research published today by the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society (TILT), commissioned by the WODC, a knowledge institute linked to the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security.

Students Committed to Sustainable and Responsible Entrepreneurship
23rd December 2021Tilburg University encourages student entrepreneurship and sustainable entrepreneurship. These aspects came together in the second Tilburg University Challenge with the theme: social responsibility. Two teams took home the three cash prizes. How are things now with the socially responsible clothing brand Bigger Picture Clothing and AnDa, the healthy drink produced from residual waste? Tilburg University Magazine talked to winner of the Business Ready Award and Audience Award, Freek van Litsenburg (23) and with Anouk van Anrooij (24) and Daniel Gelsing (23) who won the Ideation Award.
