New open data resource for studying video game play and its effects on well-being

Crisis in ethics education schools requires integrated approach to knowledge transfer, skills and practice
25th May 2023Natascha Kienstra states in her inaugural speech on June 2 that there is a crisis in ethical formation in schools. Kienstra holds the chair of Ethical Formation at the Tilburg School of Catholic Theology (TST). She believes that this formation should be integrated and accompanied by knowledge acquisition, insights, skills and attitudes.

Winners Tilburg University Challenge 2023
25th May 2023The 2023 Tilburg University Challenge was awarded on May 23 to three innovative business plans by student teams. During the finals, the Ideation Award went to Giulio Tosato, Cesare Maria Dalbagno and Francesco Fumagalli of BCI-magicians. The Business Ready Award went to Sven Correia of myTofu. The Audience Award was won by Krzysztof Trzebinski and Jakub Janczak of Thirsty Sustainable Clothing.

H.J. Hofstra Medal of Wolters Kluwer awarded to Inge van Vijfeijken
24th May 2023On Friday, May 12, at The Hague's Carlton Ambassadors Hotel, Professor of Tax Law Inge van Vijfeijken was awarded the prestigious H.J. Hofstra medal for her impressive track record as a tax scholar. The jury found that she had "generously and convincingly met the criteria of the oeuvre award."

Technological innovation in the workplace should profit from expanding works council's information rights
23rd May 2023The main provisions in the Works Councils Act that oversee technological innovation in the workplace do not function -- at least in nursing home care -- or hardly at all. That's according to legal scholar Robbert Coenmans' doctoral research. He makes several recommendations for making technological innovation succeed in the workplace.

SSH signs Tilburg Student Housing Covenant
22nd May 2023Tilburg, May 22, 2023 - SSH Student Housing has signed the Student Accommodation Covenant of the City of Tilburg. Given the great shortage of student accommodation in Tilburg, SSH wants to realize hundreds of extra units for students. The focus will be on affordable student rooms.

Tilburg University response to BSA bill
17th May 2023Last week, Minister of Education Robbert Dijkgraaf announced his plans to modify the binding study advice (BSA). As of the academic year 2025-2026, students need only secure 30 out of 60 credits in their first year to be allowed to continue their studies. This effectively eases the BSA, and universities believe this move to be both undesirable and unwise.

Four NWO grants for cutting-edge research
17th May 2023From a study that focuses on people who choose to remain childless to renewing microfinance in developing countries. Four Tilburg University researchers will have the opportunity to realize their innovative research ideas after winning a grant from the Dutch Research Council’s SGW Open Competition M. We extend our warmest congratulations to Katrijn van Deun, Katya Ivanova, Tessa van Leeuwen and Burak Uras for their successful applications.
